Expedia goes 'touring' with Booking Boss

Travel agents using Expedia will have an easier time securing tours and activities for their clients thanks to the travel company's new arrangement with Booking Boss.

Travel agents using Expedia will have an easier time securing tours and activities for their clients thanks to the travel company’s new arrangement with Booking Boss.

Announced today, Expedia will implement Booking Boss’ technology into its system to give consultants access to the tech start-up’s real-time inventory and availability.

For agents, this means the opportunity to scrap those vouchers in exchange for instant confirmation. It also means clients won’t need to wait a attraction gates to exchange their voucher for a valid ticket.

With such a simpler system in place, it could also mean more tour and activity bookings through agents and possibly even a little extra commission.

Booking Boss CEO, Renee Welsh, said the tech is designed to innovate, capitalise, grow and improve efficiencies in major sectors of their business.

“They allow instant confirmation, which is a much better customer experience and as a result of this, operators and distribution channels see an increase in bookings as the customer expectations are met.”

“Expedia is really focusing on travel activities as a category and are experiencing a lot of growth in this area so real time connectivity to manage a broad operator base is imperative.”

The new agreement with Expedia is just latest in a series movements made by the tech company to expand its business over the last 12 months.

In June last year, Booking Boss launched in Europe to offer agents simpler tour and activity bookings in the popular travel region.
