FLIGHT CENTRE GOES MOBILE, BUYS THE TRAVEL MANAGERS GROUP IN NZ

Flight Centre has followed Helloworld Travel into home-based consultancy, with the purchase of a mobile group in New Zealand.

Flight Centre has followed Helloworld Travel into home-based consultancy, with the purchase of a mobile group in New Zealand.

For an undisclosed amount, Flight Centre purchased a Kiwi company called The Travel Managers Group this week.

Just to be clear, The Travel Managers Group in New Zealand is completely separate from TravelManagers Australia.

Although they have a similar name, TravelManagers Australia is owned and continues to be owned by New Zealand-based House of Travel.

So just to reiterate, Flight Centre DID NOT purchase TravelManagers Australia.

Flight Centre’s Managing Director Graham Turner said the group had previously flagged intentions to expand into the home-based business model and sees The Travel Managers Group as the perfect introduction.

“The home-based or broker offering has strong growth potential and is attractive to us for a number of reasons.”

Turner said the acquisition will give the group access to an existing talent pool, flexibility as well as new career opportunities for employees, added convenience for customers, greater efficiencies and new distribution channels.

Along with today’s announcement, Flight Centre also confirmed the purchase of New Zealand’s Executive Travel Group, an independent corporate travel company.

“ETG will enhance our already strong corporate travel offering in New Zealand and will give the business additional scale and expertise,” he added.
