Intrepid Travel has just supersized its Middle East operations by opening its first destination management company in Jordan.
The new office, located in Amman, will manage Intrepid’s nine small group tours in Jordan starting this summer. Plans are also in place to increase Intrepid’s tour offerings in the region by 2025.
Intrepid aims to double its number of Jordan visitors by 2030. It currently welcomes around 6,000 travellers from Europe, North America, and Australia annually.
Intrepid Travel EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Managing Director Zina Bencheikh called the opening of the new hub a “significant milestone for Intrepid”.

“We see this step as a mark of confidence in the country,” she explained.
“Despite the current crisis, Jordan has so much to offer our global travellers and we consider it a key destination for our business.
“Having our own DMC will allow us to take the destination to the next level, diversify our product and introduce new purpose initiatives.”
Meanwhile, Intrepid Australia and New Zealand Sales and General Manager Yvette Thompson said the new office would help boost its overall offering in the region.

“Our extensive DMC network ensures that in more places than ever before, our local teams are creating sustainable and authentic experiences for our travellers,” she remarked.
“It also means that our agents can work with our Tailor Made team on a wider range of destinations and know that they will get the same Intrepid service.”
Last month, Intrepid Travel introduced a Saudi Arabia Women’s Expedition trip led by female tour leaders and guides and featuring female-owned local tourism businesses to shake up cultural stigmas about women in the country.

Earlier this year, the responsible travel specialist hit an all-time financial record in FY23 with a net profit of AU$21.8 million – a $47.7 million turnaround in just 12 months.
By 2030, Intrepid aims to double its customers to 600,000 and achieve $1.3 billion in revenue with one per cent of that going to its purpose initiatives.
