Destination Canada and partners are out to raises awareness of Canada’s travel potential for millennials in Australia, Germany and the UK.

In the latest attempt to woo them, the tourist bureau teamed up with STA Travel to  bring some of its travel agents on a series of FAM trips across the country that showcased the fun and exciting travel experiences available to this generation of travellers.

Thirty agents from Australia, Germany and the UK fanned out on four separate trips. Their many adventures included stops in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec.

STA 1

In Alberta they had the chance to zipline at Canada Olympic Park, hiking at Lake Louise, rafting on the Sunwapta River and a trip up the Jasper SkyTram.

In British Columbia they went flightseeing around Vancouver, whale-watching and kayaking around Vancouver Island, cycling around Stanley Park and ziptrekking in Whistler.

Then in Ontario canoe trips in Algonquin Park, a behind-the-scenes city tour of Toronto, a lunch cruise around the 1000 Islands and jet-boating up Niagara Gorge.

STA 2

And then in Quebec they went riding the rapids of the St. Lawrence River, local smoked-meat cuisine in Montréal, cycling around Québec City and ziplining at Kanatha-Aki.

At the end of the trips, the agents met for joint workshops to pool their newly acquired knowledge of Canada and share tips for future travel.

DC’s principal Canadian partners for the FAM trips were Travel Alberta, Destination British Columbia, Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation, Tourisme Québec, Moose Travel Network, G Adventures and Hostelling International.

The FAM trips were the second stage of a partnership with STA Travel.

Earlier in the year, DC and Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation worked on expanding the Canadian content in STA Travel’s North America brochure, as well as increasing the number of STA sales staff graduating from the Canada Specialist Program.
