Fall in love with some of Hawai‘i’s most picturesque coastlines and waterfalls. Located just north of Hilo on the northeastern side of Hawaiʻi, Hāmākua Coast is one of the most beautiful stretches of scenery on the island with lush tropical rainforests, stunning waterfalls and tranquil green valleys.

Make sure to stop in some of the small towns, such as historic Honokaʻa with its specialty shops and boutiques. For a memorable drive, take the Hāmākua Heritage Corridor from Waipiʻo Valley Lookout to Hilo. As you drive along the scenic coast, you’ll see deep valleys carved by water and thick with verdant tropical foliage.

Stop en route to tour both the Hawaiʻi Tropical Botanical Garden and World Botanical Gardens, boasting the triple-tiered Umau-ma Falls. The heritage drive also includes two of the island’s most famous waterfalls – the 135m ‘Akaka Falls and the 31m Kahuna Falls.

Wailea is Maui’s premier honeymoon destination, ideal for couples with discerning tastes. You’ll find opulent resorts on beautiful beach coves and it’s also home to Hawaiʻi’s sole adults-only boutique hotel.

The region is renowned for decadent restaurants with dramatic sunset views. Foodie lovers will appreciate a ‘secret’ dinner for two at The Treehouse, an idyllic oceanfront meal just steps from the sand at Sarento’s On The Beach, or enjoy alfresco Italian dining under the stars at Ferraro’s.

Private resort-based activities are in abundance here from stand-up paddleboarding lessons and guided kayak tours to couples’ spa treatments and memorable photography sessions. Make time to wander hand-in-hand along the Wailea Beach Path, which is one of the island’s most scenic walkways and perfect for spotting humpback whales in season from December to April.

Poʻipū, Kaua’i

Poʻipū has an idyllic sunny honeymoon setting on Kauaʻi’s south shore that’s perfect for any post-nuptial celebration. It’s one of the island’s most popular beach destinations and is dotted with a superior selection of premium resorts.

The biggest attraction is Poʻipū Beach with its golden sands. Romance is sure to flourish here – frolic together in the shallow waters of a nearby sandbar, snorkel side by side in search of Hawaiian green sea turtles (remembering to keep a safe distance and leave them alone) and hold hands while watching a bright sunset over the Pacific Ocean.

Immerse yourselves in Kauaʻi’s roadside beauty with a drive through The Tree Tunnel, a gorgeous canopy of eucalyptus trees. Or venture deep into Waimea Canyon, a rocky, red-earth landscape reminiscent of a mini Grand Canyon. For exotic cocktails and unforgettable beachfront dining for two, head to RumFire Poʻipū Beach.

Kō Olina is an emerging honeymoon hotspot on Oʻahu’s west coast, tailormade for stylish newlyweds, with a string of four pristine beach lagoons connected by a seaside pathway and a handful of high-end resorts.

This up-and-coming community always has something exciting on offer. Journey through the galaxy on a ‘Stars Above Hawaiʻi’ astronomer-led show, tee off at the top-ranking Kō Olina Golf Club or spot Hawaiian wildlife on a Wild Side Specialty Tour.

You can also seek pleasure in boating pursuits departing from the nearby world-class marina. Take to the ocean on a whale-watching trip, snorkel adventure or catamaran sunset sail. Back on land, a Hawaiian lūʻau feast and cultural performance will leave loved-up duos with a lasting impression.

Hulopoʻe Bay is a honeymoon haven on the privately owned island of Lānaʻi. Suitable for those seeking seclusion, a lavish 5-star resort sits above the shoreline where spinner dolphins are often spotted playing.

A former pineapple plantation, the isle has developed into a country-style retreat where newlyweds can escape on a short walk to Puʻu Pehe or an ATV ride to Keahiakawelo.

The stunning outdoor scenery offers plenty of opportunities to bond while fishing, swimming, snorkelling, diving, hiking or horseriding. The small town square offers a date-night outing to savour local food and catch a flick at Hale Keaka Lānaʻi Theaters.
