Accor has announced a period of record growth in 2024 and almost 90 hotels in the pipeline to be opened in the coming years under the Sofitel, Sofitel Legend, MGallery and Emblems brands.

In total, more than 20 hotels were signed in 2024 across the four brands, with a particular focus on high-potential markets like Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Egypt, as well as resort destinations in the Caribbean and Mediterranean. Emerging markets such as Mexico and India are also seeing significant investment, driven by the brands’ increasing desirability.

Sofitel, which celebrated its 60th-anniversary in 2024, is in the midst of a brand rebirth as it prepares for  32 new hotels to be opened over the coming years.

Sofitel Legend reached a growth milestone in 2024 with three new flagships opened in 12 months: Sofitel Legend The Mozart in Prague; Sofitel Legend in India; and the 615-key Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile, Egypt where 60 per cent of its rooms offer views of the Giza Pyramids.

MGallery, currently comprised of 120 boutique hotels, has a further 48 hotels in the pipeline as it expands into new territories such as Japan, the Caribbean, and Mexico.

Meanwhile Emblems, Accor’s new high-end collection brand, makes a debut with already seven flagship hotels signed in Europe, South-East Asia and North America.

“2024 has been a milestone year for our brands, marking unprecedented development momentum,” said Maud Bailly, CEO of Sofitel, Sofitel Legend, MGallery and Emblems.

“This accelerated pipeline reflects the dedication and hard work of our exceptional teams worldwide, strengthening our network’s consistency, redefining our brand identity, and elevating our brand promise.

“Two years ago, this new era was just a vision as we laid the foundations of our new organisation and shaped our strategic roadmap. Today, it has become a reality. There is nothing more rewarding than restoring clarity and pride to the brands and its talented people.”

Alongside new hotels, major refurbishments of existing properties are underway at 26 per cent of the Sofitel networks including at such hotels as Sofitel New York, Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile. Recent renovations were completed at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, Sofitel Athens and Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit.

Some eight per cent of the MGallery Collection portfolio is under renovation, with projects such as Manly Pacific in Sydney, Prix de Versailles, or Grand Hôtel Roi Renée Aix-en-Provence in France leading the way.

Emblems Collection is set to debut seven properties in all continents over the coming years.

“We’ve seen leads triple since 2023, reflecting a strong investment trend in our hard and collection luxury brands. By enhancing brand desirability, we’ve bolstered our existing Sofitel and MGallery portfolios and expanded into key markets and resort destinations,” said Xavier Grange, Chief Development Officer Sofitel, Sofitel Legend, MGallery and Emblems.

Following a trend of luxury hotel groups investing further into residences, the group will also see a rise in its branded residences in future years with projects including Sofitel Residences Downtown Dubai, set to open in 2026; and Sofitel Sapa Hotel & Branded Residences in Vietnam, featuring more than 400 units.
