Kiwi cuisine: Air New Zealand dishes up new premium menu of fresh flavours

Air New Zealand long-haul passengers departing New Zealand in Business Premier and Premium economy can now enjoy the latest ‘A Taste of Aotearoa’ inflight menu highlighting regional produce.

The new premium menu, launched at an Auckland event on 4 April, again focuses on local ingredients and uniquely NZ flavours, particularly from Fiordland, Hawke’s Bay and Coromandel areas.

Some iconic Kiwi faves have also made it onto the plate for the latest twice-yearly menu revamp, such as confit potato with onion crème fraîche whip and chives (a twist on chips and dip) and ambrosia ice-cream with raspberry frozen yoghurt, milk chocolate shards, marshmallow and sour cherry swirls.

Some of the latest dishes featuring on ‘A Taste of Aotearoa’ premium menus include Mānuka smoked rye sourdough, smoked kahawai rillette, crayfish bisque, New Zealand snapper and wild Fiordland venison.

“Our menu is different depending on where you fly and we change our long-haul menu twice a year, so there are lots of opportunities for customers to enjoy new and exciting dishes no matter how frequently they travel with us,” an Air New Zealand spokesperson said.

‘A Taste of Aotearoa’ dishes are available on all long-haul flights departing from New Zealand with menu items identified by a distinctive icon.

Air New Zealand also recently overhauled its onboard snack offering after a nationwide callout for Kiwi ‘snackperts’.
