IHG to open first hotel in Vietnam holiday hotspot Ha Long Bay

InterContinental (IHG) is set to open its first property in the Ha Long Bay region, just outside the resort area of Bai Chay.

InterContinental Halong Bay Resort will have 174 rooms and suites, 60 residences and 41 private villas, all with views of Ha Long Bay.

Each room is designed to reflect the resort’s beachfront location, with elements of ancient folklore, “celebrating the dramatic interplay of land, sea, islands and islets that define Ha Long Bay’s captivating landscape”.

There will be six dining venues to choose from, from fresh seafood at Marina Kitchen to Cantonese at Yulong Mansion and French-Viet fusion at La Baguette.

While Roku Dining Room and Sky Bar offer bespoke cocktails made from Japanese whiskeys and gins.

There are also three pools, a games room and a spa that offers treatments inspired by local traditions.

Next year, IHG will open Holiday Inn Resort Halong Bay, and it plans to launch its first valley resort project in Vietnam in the Thanh Xuan Valley in Vinh Phuc within the next few years.
 
IHG, Senior Director Operations, Paul Cunningham says,  “With 18 hotels and 26 properties in the pipeline, we’re seeing many great new opportunities for growth in Vietnam as we enter new destinations including Ha Long Bay, Hoi An and Vinh Phuc.
