Mandarin Oriental has opened the doors on two new luxury hotels, with the debut of Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London and Mandarin Oriental, Muscat.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London, located in the historic Hanover Square, becomes the group’s second property in London as a sister property to Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park.

It features 50 guest rooms and suites, 77 private residences, Chef Akira Back’s London restaurant debut, two bars, and The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London is the first new build in Mayfair in more than a decade. Each guest room has been inspired by haute couture and imagined as a ‘jewellery box’, created in a palette of emerald green, maroon and turquoise; and using timbers, marble, soft fabrics and carpets, bespoke lighting, metallic finishes in brass, bronze and gold – and renowned ‘House of de Gournay’ hand-painted silk wallpaper as a key focal point.

Award-winning Chef Akira Back makes his UK debut at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London. Born in Korea, raised in Colorado and having helmed some of the world’s finest Japanese restaurants, he will lead the culinary creations at the 148-seat restaurant that also includes three private dining rooms and a 14-seater Dosa that presents an intimate counter-style setting.

The ABar Rooftop, offering views over London’s skyline, will open later in 2024.

The Hajar Mountains form a dramatic backdrop to the Omani-inspired property comprised of 103 guest rooms and 47 suites, with materials sourced locally including desert rose marble and ashwood.
