Thanda Safari, a Big Five game reserve in South Africa and one of The Thanda Group’s three African hospitality experiences, now offers The Royal Thanda Club by Thanda Safari private residences available for holidaymakers to book for their safari adventure.
The Royal Residences are four- and five-bedroom homes within The Royal Thanda Club Estate with just four currently available to rent in 2024 from ZAR168,000 (around AUD$13,900) per night.
Located in South Africa’s northern KwaZulu Natal province aka Zululand, Thanda Safari is one of Africa’s most authentic safari destinations, rich in wildlife, Zulu culture and history.
While staying at The Royal Thanda Club, travellers can arrive by helicopter and experience twice-daily game drives in a private vehicle led by Thanda Safari’s experienced guides and trackers.

Other guided adventures include bush walks led by specialist guides, outdoor dining experiences and a dedicated junior ranger’s course for younger guests on family trips.

Each Royal Residence features expansive views over the 5-star, 14,000ha private game reserve with amenities that prioritise seclusion, luxury and comfort.

These include private balconies, indoor and outdoor showers, pools and hot tubs, spa treatments and more. In addition, guests can enjoy a dedicated butler, private chef and personalised concierge service.

The new Royal Residences offer another option to the existing Thanda Safari onsite accommodations of Thanda Safari Lodge, the award-winning Villa iZulu and Thanda Tented Camp. Thanda Safari is one of only four South African accommodations listed in The Leading Hotels of the World.

The Thanda Group was established by Swedish philanthropist couple Christin and Dan Olofsson in 2002 with a commitment to protect the local wildlife and Zulu culture.
