Brisbane’s The Calile Hotel took out the title as ‘Best Hotel in Oceania’ and ranked number 25; while Hobart’s The Tasman came in at number 49.
The respected list is the go-to for the world’s best hotels created by ‘The World’s 50 Best Hotels Academy’, an influential group of more than 600 global industry experts.
It’s the second year in a row the 175-room The Calile Hotel (below and main image) has been named in awards.
The Calile Hotel General Manager, Chris Kemlo says, “To have been selected two years in a row marks a significant affirmation of The Calile’s place on the global hotel industry stage”.
“This is a win for our team, our collaborators, our loyal guests and a win for Brisbane as a destination, and we are humbled to again represent Australia and be recognised as leading in the Oceania region.”
The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, General Manager, Stephen Morahan has thanked his team for the award, who he says “offer exceptional service every day”.
Located in the former state government offices at Parliament Square overlooking Hobart’s waterfront, The Tasman might only be three years old, but Morahan says, ”Tasmania has long been a jewel in Australia’s crown as a place to experience natural and epicurean delights, and fabulous warm friendly hospitality”.
“The Tasman embodies these experiences and to be celebrated on the world’s stage is not only a testament to our offerings, but those of the entire state.”
The top five hotels in The World’s 50 Best Hotels
The top gong in The World’s 50 Best Hotels went to Capella Bangkok, which also took out the title of The Best Hotel in Asia. Capella Singapore also made the list ranking at number 33.
Capella Hotel Group President, Cristiano Rinaldi, says, “This incredible accolade is another reason for us to celebrate after being named World’s Best Hotel Brand by Travel + Leisure this year”.
“Most importantly,” he adds, “it is a tribute to our dedicated Capella colleagues and a testament to the trust from our treasured guests. Without their unwavering trust and support, we could not have crafted unforgettable memories showcasing the uniqueness of Bangkok’s storied Charoenkrung neighbourhood and Singapore’s verdant Sentosa Island.”
Passalacqua at Lake Como, which is set in an 18th-century villa that formerly housed Pope Innocent XI, came in at number two.
Third spot went to Rosewood Hong Kong, located in an unmissable 65-storey tower that has made its mark on the city skyline.
Fourth on the list is Cheval Blanc in Paris, located in the landmark La Samaritaine building alongside the city’s famed Pont Neuf, Cheval Blanc; and rounding out the top five is The Upper House in Hong Kong, which sits above Admiralty’s Pacific Place and has more than 400 pieces of artwork throughout the property.
