Why the hell is this plane gift-wrapped in a sheet of Powerball?

In what could be the most extravagant yet effective marketing of the year, an entire plane parked at Brisbane Domestic Airport has been wrapped in a sheet of Powerball.

Yeah, so it was done as a visible reminder to Christmas holidaymakers to pick up a Powerball ticket before they set off on their holiday.

You could say it’s like All Nippon Airways coating its 787s in Star Wars livery or Turkish Airlines painting one of its aircraft in a Batman v Superman theme, but slightly different.

Anyway, the Powerball stunt was planned in conjunction with Alliance Airlines and coincides with Powerball’s latest jackpot, giving Aussies the chance to win $25 million this Christmas.

Okay, you have our attention.

The 80-seat private jet is parked on the tarmac of the domestic terminal and travellers are being encouraged to help spread the word (although isn’t it that the more people that play, the less chance you have of winning?) by taking their own shot of the wrapped plane while passing through the gateway and then sharing it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

Those who also use the hashtag #DreamGift and an explanation as to what dream gift they would give this Christmas if they won the Powerball, will go in the running to win one of three Mystery Breaks with three friends.

The competition runs from 21 December until23:59:59pm on 23 December 2016.

So, have you spotted the Powerball wrapped plane?
