VA strengthens strategic partnership with Sabre AI retail solutions; renews GDS

Virgin Australia has expanded its long-term partnership with software and tech provider Sabre, onboarding new AI-powered intelligent retailing solutions and renewing its GDS agreement for Sabre-connected travel agencies.

Virgin Australia has expanded its long-term partnership with software and tech provider Sabre, onboarding new AI-powered intelligent retailing solutions and renewing its GDS agreement for Sabre-connected travel agencies.

In the new deal, VA will deploy Sabre Air Price IQ and Sabre Ancillary IQ, using Sabre AI with flight and market insights to move from static pricing rules to real-time airfare and ancillary offers.

Through these scalable, AI-powered retailing solutions, VA can create fares alongside a future-focused distribution strategy to provide personalised offers to the right customers.

Virgin Australia and Sabre have also renewed a multi-year distribution agreement. Sabre-connected travel agencies can continue to shop, book and service VA’s air and ancillary offers quickly and at scale.

Virgin Australia CCO Dave Emerson said: “It’s essential that our technology partners, like Sabre, can support us in delivering value and choice to customers.”

“Our deeper alliance with Sabre will enable better offers and ensure the right travel buyers and travellers can access them.”

The carrier already uses Sabre products, including Passenger Service Solution (PSS), Fares Manager, E-commerce platform and Network Planning tools.

In March, VA also added Sabre’s Revenue Optimizer and Dynamic Availability solutions to boost its decision-making capabilities.

Sabre Chief Product Officer Gary Wiseman said: “We’re very excited to bring our new Retail Intelligence suite to Virgin Australia.”

“Our innovation partnership with Google enables us to deliver unique value to airlines and their passengers.

“Adding these new solutions reflects Virgin Australia’s ambition towards a continuous pricing model while enhancing its marketplace position.”
