As more major conferences consider their carbon footprint, Flight Centre Travel Group’s Goals for Good continued its tradition of corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives through the Flight Centre Foundation at last week’s Global Gathering 2025 in Los Angeles, including 2.5 million trees planted worldwide through the Reforest partnership.
Before Global Gathering 2025 kicked off in LA on 11 July, Flight Centre leaders, including Founder & CEO Graham “Skroo” Turner, visited Vancouver Island to see the Planting for the Planet initiative in action.
Since its launch in August 2023, Planting for the Planet contributions for global reforestation efforts are offered through the Captain’s Pack add-on to bookings.

Trees have been planted across four key regions, including Canada’s Vancouver Island, Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, Victoria’s Wimmera Habitat Corridor in Australia and East Taranaki in New Zealand.
The 2.5 million-tree milestone more than doubles the trees planted in 2023-24.
Flight Centre Global Managing Director Andrew Stark said: “This milestone is a powerful nod to what we recognise as our responsibility to preserve and enrich the places we love and the impact we can make when we come together.”
“One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey has been the opportunity to meet with and connect personally with local farmers and learn more about their stories.

“Through our partnership with Reforest, we’re not only helping to combat climate change but we’re also supporting local communities and biodiversity; father-and-son farmers, female entrepreneurs and a future global community of local business leaders.”
Reforest CEO Daniel Walsh added: “Flight Centre is setting a great example for the travel industry with this 2.5 million-tree milestone.”
“Travel needs to leave destinations better than it found them, for communities, nature and climate, and Flight Centre’s Planting for the Planet is exactly the kind of program that must become common practice to achieve that vision.”

Goals for Good in LA
Global Gathering 2025 continued with Goals for Good, asking attendees to donate a pair of socks to support the Downtown Women’s Center in Downtown LA, where the event was held.
The annual conference and gala awards event also incorporated other CSR initiatives, such as reduced single-use plastic, reduced water and food waste, compensating for carbon emissions and shared sustainable travel tips for attendees.
