Movers + Shakers: GFOB adds Brett Simon as new Head of Commercial ANZ

Globus family of brands (GFOB) will welcome a new (but familiar) face to its Sydney-based team this month.

Globus family of brands (GFOB) will welcome a new (but familiar) face to its Sydney-based team this month.

Effective 13 June, Brett Simon will move across to Australia from New Zealand in the newly created role of Head of Commercial ANZ for GFOB.

Simon joins after three years as the company’s Head of New Zealand, where he helped grow the Globus footprint.

Bringing over 20 years of experience in the travel sector, Simon will steer GFOB’s key commercial relationships and sales team across the company’s brands, river cruise line Avalon Waterways, and tour operators Globus and Cosmos.

GFOB managing director Asia Pacific Gai Tyrrell called Simon “a champion of our brands and he has proven his commercial acumen in the New Zealand market”.

“Brett has been an integral part of our leadership team in recent years and we are delighted to announce his appointment to this new role which will ensure our brands deliver on our sales targets across both Australia and New Zealand,” Tyrrell said.

“This new role with responsibility across Australia and New Zealand will strengthen our commercial relationships and ensure our success for the year ahead.”

A new home

Set to relocate permanently to Sydney, Simon said he was “very excited to start this next chapter at Globus family of brands, a company, team, and product I’m so passionate about”.

“I can’t wait to get started with the team to drive sales, bring my experience from New Zealand to an expanded role and work with all of GFOB’s valued industry partners,” he stated.

GFOB says it will begin looking for a replacement for Simon in NZ shortly.

Two weeks ago, Globus family of brands bid adieu to Head of Sales Peter Douglas.

In April, GFOB’s Sydney team marked a major milestone of 95 years in the travel business, starting with a single rowboat to a full fleet of global travel brands.
