Fiji’s VOMO Island is serving specialty cocktails with a touch of eco-friendliness after removing all single-use plastic straws and replacing them with bamboo-look plastic straws.
The eco-friendly move by VOMO was made this week as a “positive step” towards “protecting and preserving the environment”.
In a statement, the Fijian island said guests would be able to continue sipping their water-side cocktails but without the “nasty plastic straws” but rather the paper straws.
“Enjoy your cocktails at VOMO Island Fiji with a sip of eco friendly.”

Stylish designer bamboo-look paper straws are now served with the property’s cocktails.
Beyond removing plastic straws, the island is also a member of the Mamanuca Environment Society (MES), which aims to protect the pristine marine environment of the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji.
To support the initiative, guests are asked to donate FJD$5 per stay.
The Fijian resort in the Mamanuca Islands is on its own private island just 15 minutes north of Nadi International Airport by seaplane or helicopter.
