Together in Travel: Positively checking in from around the world

Is there any greater industry than travel? If you've been lucky enough to work in travel, or are fortunate (as I am) to still work in it, you'll know all too well that it is the globally diverse mix of people that make it such a life-enriching community to be a part of. So while the pandemic may have disconnected us far and wide in the last 18 months, it'll never extinguish our desire to get back to doing what we love – Together in Travel.

Is there any greater industry than travel? If you’ve been lucky enough to work in travel, or are fortunate (as I am) to still work in it, you’ll know all too well that it is the globally diverse mix of people that make it such a life-enriching community to be a part of. So while the pandemic may have disconnected us far and wide in the last 18 months, it’ll never extinguish our desire to get back to doing what we love – Together in Travel.

When we started our Karryon Together In Travel initiative back in March 2020, it was with the sole objective of creating a platform to help unify the travel and tourism industry in its darkest hour.

What began as a small, closed Australian Facebook Group and forum to share insights, experiences, ups and downs and support each other through the pandemic has since blossomed into a movement and worldwide home to thousands of members who desired to maintain a sense of belonging to the industry they love being a part of.

Even that is, if you were one of the many all over the world who lost their job or business in the 18 months since March 2020 through no fault of their own.

We had no idea then, that the pandemic and paralysing of travel would continue as long as it has.

From collectively launching our successful Save the travel industry campaign, to enabling micro-events and get-togethers, fostering greater collaboration, friendships and recruitment opportunities, our mission has been to keep the wheels turning and not lose sight of an eventual end to the darkness and the beginning of brighter days – together in travel.

Our latest initiative ‘The check-in’ is another simple idea that creates a lot of love and hopefully gives us all the gentle nudge we need to make it to the other side. Because after 18 months, it really is getting close now.

To gain some much-needed perspective in the meantime, we asked our worldwide community to send us a ‘check-in’ video message of hope and goodwill from their home, with the aim of reconnecting and reminding us all that we are part of something far bigger and more meaningful than perhaps we often realise.

Especially, if you happen to be in lockdown as so many of us have been and continue to be.

And the response? Huge! We’ve been overwhelmed with beautiful videos and messages sent to us from all over the world.

As you’ll see, it’s our shared experience and hardships that unite us – as always.

Here’s a small selection. We hope they put as big a smile on your face as they did for us.

Because all of us belong to this wonderful family that makes a difference.

Fiji: Tourism Fiji

U.S: Utah Tourism

Western Australia: Sal Salis
