The 1000, a club for the world’s most influential travel advisors, has released its member insights into the most successful, top-producing agents across the globe, whose annual sales production is more than $USD1.5 million.

While 2020 sales volumes were consistently lower across the world due to the pandemic, The 1000 members’ 2021 numbers were significantly higher in the US compared to other countries, including some US-based advisors whose 2021 production surpassed their pre-pandemic 2019 figures.

Canada, the UK and Australia followed with industry recovery in 2021, however these regions generated much lower sales volumes due to tighter travel restrictions.

Hotels topped product sales for The 1000 members, contributing 34 per cent, followed by air (18%) and cruise (17%).

In a recent survey of The 1000 members, 88 per cent said that their 2022 invoiced sales are on track to be ahead of 2019, showing positive momentum for the recovery of the travel industry.

The survey also revealed that almost half of the world’s top advisors (48%) have been in the industry for more than 15 years, highlighting an opportunity to introduce and nurture new and rising talent.

The 1000 Co-Founder Tim Morgan said: “As our industry struggles with succession planning, insights into what defines a viable travel advisor career are crucial with compensation and product-focus being critical to that understanding.”

“With a US$279,000 average annual gross commission for those accepted into The 1000, there is no doubt that the travel advisor profession is a career that should be given the respect it deserves.”

The 1000 Co-Founder Jeff Sirota added: “The 1000 is made up of incredibly passionate and successful travel advisors from around the world, but what makes them truly stand out is their respect for their profession – and the proof is in their numbers.”
