Chris Hemsworth, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston and Megan Gale – the tourism industry really does have a knack for picking some super sexy ambassadors to represent their brands and destinations.
But Fiji Airways may have just knocked Thor’s mighty ‘hammers’ out of the game, with a Global Ambassador that’s on par, if not slightly sexier (it’s all perspective) than the Hemsworth.
Who could it possibly be?
How about Australia’s favourite experimental athlete, Jarryd Hayne.
The announcements comes a day after the carrier launched its first direct flights to San Francisco, where Hayne spent a year playing for the city’s football team.
Similarly to other Global Ambassador roles, Hayne will have to take part in promotional activities, promote the carrier’s network and of course, look good while doing it.
The footy player said he’s “proud” to represent the airline and encourage more people to experience Fiji and “all that it has to offer”.
“This is an exciting week for me… I have returned to the country half my family is from, I’m training with the best rugby team in the world, and I’ve been appointed an ambassador for Fiji’s national airline.”

Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO, Andre Viljoen, said he was delighted to have Hayne on board and hopes more travellers will “choose Fiji as their next stop”.
