More and more Aussies are choosing this airline to fly to Europe

When booking a flight from Australia to Europe there are certain airlines that pop straight into your head: Qantas and Emirates perhaps? For many, Finnair wouldn't be the first airline to come to mind, but perhaps that is soon to change.

When booking a flight from Australia to Europe there are certain airlines that pop straight into your head: Qantas and Emirates perhaps? For many, Finnair wouldn’t be the first airline to come to mind, but perhaps that is soon to change.

It comes as Finnair enjoyed a particularly strong sales growth in Australia between January and March 2018.

Ticketed revenue was up a whopping 43% compared to Q1 last year, with a significant boom in Business Class sales.

“Forward bookings for the rest of this year are building and we are already looking at exceeding our successes of last year.”

So why are more and more Aussies choosing Finnair for their European getaways? Finnair says its new modern fleet of A350s, along with high customer satisfaction levels has something to do with it.

“Going into the European Summer, we are on board with a record 97 weekly flights to Asia, including our new Nanjing flights and more than 100 destinations in Europe, with new scheduled services to Lisbon, Bergen, Tromso and Stuttgart.”

Finnair’s success can also be seen in the airline racking up its 14th consecutive quarter of growth with a profit of nearly 4 million Euros from January through to March.

The airline now plans on increasing its capacity by more than 15% this year, with most of this growth coming in the first half of the year.

It’s also one of the world’s safest airlines, which is a pretty appealing selling factor!

Finnair isn’t the only airline shaking up the market though.

Bargain hunters are waiting in anticipation for low-cost Singaporean carrier Scoot to start its new bargain flights to Berlin on 20 June.

This follows the airline’s debut in Europe last year with its Athens route.

There’s no doubt Aussies tend to favour certain airlines when flying to Europe (especially with Qantas eyeing off more direct flights from Perth to UK/Europe), but those wanting to branch out will find plenty of other choices.
