Qatar Airways set to onboard free, fast inflight Wi-Fi with SpaceX Starlink

Qatar Airways will collaborate with SpaceX’s Starlink to offer free, high-speed broadband internet with one-click access on select routes and aircraft. While a rollout date has not been specified, the move will make QR the largest carrier with the Starlink service.

Qatar Airways and Starlink are currently in the pre-launch phase of the rollout strategy across the Qatar Airways fleet and the service will be a further enhancement of Qatar Airways’ onboard experience.

Powered by Starlink’s satellite communications system, the high-speed and low-latency network will allow passengers to have a seamless inflight Wi-Fi connectivity experience with a simple one-click access.

Once active, passengers can enjoy ultra-fast Wi-Fi speeds of up to 350 Megabits per second for a variety of internet-based services such as video streaming, gaming and web-browsing.

SpaceX’s Starlink Commercial Sales VP Jonathan Hofeller said: “With Starlink set to support the entire Qatar Airways fleet, passengers will be able to stay connected with the most advanced high-speed internet service from space.”

“As soon as passengers step on the plane, the internet works seamlessly throughout their flight from gate to gate and all from the comfort of their seats.”
