Hot off its massive recent Down Under concerts, Coldplay has dropped its “Man in the Moon” music video shot in Singapore during the UK band’s Music of the Spheres World Tour stop in January 2024.
Set against the iconic cityscape, the music video spotlights 10 well-known attractions, including Marina Bay, Jewel Changi Airport, Fort Canning Park and Gardens by the Bay, as well as vibrant neighbourhoods, such as Chinatown and MacPherson.
The “Man in The Moon” music video features locals of diverse backgrounds and identities portrayed by talents from cosplay artists to creatives.
Singapore Tourism Board noted that the city-state provides a fitting multicultural backdrop where people with different backgrounds and stories converge, embodying the song’s theme of shared experiences transcending individual differences.
The finale sees the young people coming together at Marina Bay, joining the UK band on a floating stage built specifically for the music video as they belt out the chorus.
An exclusive fan party was held on 5 February 2025 at Marina Bay Sands’ newly revamped SkyPark deck where the music video premiered.
Coldplay said: “While we were in Singapore, we shot the video and captured some of the amazing, young, vibrant people we had met.”
“We are interested in shooting things in places we have never filmed before and mixing people up as much as possible. It was really fun to have a kind of dance party out in the middle of the water, just us and the otters.”
It’s not the first time the UK band has highlighted an international destination in its music videos, filming “A Sky Full of Stars” in the inner-west Sydney suburb of Newtown back in 2014.
Australians were also one of the top source markets for the city-state in 2024 with visitation and spending surpassing 2019 levels.
