The Gold Coast meets Graceland with Elvis movie exhibition in Memphis

Elvis Presley’s home Graceland in Memphis will showcase movie memorabilia in a new exhibition celebrating Baz Luhrmann’s ELVIS film, opening on 8 January to coincide with the late singer’s birthday with his daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, in attendance.

Elvis Presley’s home Graceland in Memphis will showcase movie memorabilia in a new exhibition celebrating Baz Luhrmann’s ELVIS film, opening on 8 January to coincide with the late singer’s birthday with his daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, in attendance.

Titled Making of ELVIS, the Elvis movie exhibition in partnership with Warner Bros., National Film & Sound Archives of Australia and Baz Luhrmann looks at the biopic’s creative process from the story through to the big screen.

Famously filmed in Queensland, ELVIS was one of 2022’s top movies and grossed USD$151 million at the US box office.

Graceland visitors will be able to witness the worldwide media frenzy surrounding the film in the exhibition.

Highlights include behind-the-scenes videos of the making of ELVIS. Footage of Memphis and Tupelo and rehearsals and set builds in Australia, plus notes, scripts and storyboards will delight fans.

Film props, set pieces and costumes and accessories worn by Austin Butler (Elvis), Tom Hanks (Colonel Tom Parker), Olivia DeJonge (Priscilla) and other actors will also be on display.

The Making of ELVIS movie exhibition will be on display at Graceland until 4 September 2023.
