Delta Air Lines shares sneak peek of latest tech innovations as it gears up for 100th year

At the recent CES 2025 tech event in Las Vegas, Delta Air Lines took over the Sphere to announce its upcoming innovations to transform the entire passenger experience on board, on the ground and in the future for its milestone centennial year in aviation travel.

Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian shared the insights during his first-of-its-kind keynote taking over the Sphere’s Exosphere with 360-degree displays.

The keynote took the audience on an immersive journey that included fireworks visuals and frontline crew on stage, commemorating a century of groundbreaking aviation milestones and the carrier’s commitment to innovation.

Introducing Delta Concierge

Delta Concierge will usher in new modes of seamless travel and personalised experiences.

Bastian introduced Delta Concierge and new modes of seamless travel as well as how the airline will reimagine the onboard experience.

The always-on, AI-powered Delta Concierge via the Fly Delta app promises personalised insights and experiences to help passengers navigate all steps of the customer journey.

In 2025, Delta Concierge will act as an AI personal assistant and remind passengers of passport expiration and visa requirements as well as other pre-trip planning features, including airport wayfinding and new partnerships with Uber and Joby, an electric air service.

Upcoming inflight highlights include a new YouTube partnership, cloud-based seatback experience, personalised features and cabins.

SkyMiles members will enjoy a new Delta Sync partnership with YouTube on board most flights with ad-free access to content in 2025.

Delta will also launch a first-of-its-kind, cloud-based inflight entertainment system in 2026, featuring enhanced high-quality content and streaming experiences on 4K HDR QLED displays and Bluetooth in all cabins.

Sustainable aviation commitments

Looking to the future, a new partnership with Airbus’ UpNext innovation lab to refine future aircraft needs will position the manufacturer and its largest operator at the forefront of next-gen aviation technology and drive fuel efficiency.

In addition, Delta will join Minnesota SAF Hub and invest in scaling up sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production.
