Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) has announced its latest foray into artificial intelligence, establishing a dedicated 'AI Centre of Excellence' global division led by travel tech entrepreneur Adrian Lopez in the new role of Head of AI.

Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) has announced its latest foray into artificial intelligence, establishing a dedicated ‘AI Centre of Excellence’ global division led by travel tech entrepreneur Adrian Lopez in the new role of Head of AI.

FCTG’s new AI Centre of Excellence will focus on promoting, adopting and integrating the generative tech into the company’s corporate brands, Corporate Traveller and FCM.

As part of the launch, Mr Lopez steps into the newly created role as Head of AI for Corporate from his most recent position as FCM Digital Global Chief Technology Officer, reporting to John Morhous, Global Chief Experience Officer of FCTG’s Corporate Brands.

Based in Greece, Mr Lopez has 10-plus years of industry experience, including co-founding corporate travel tool SAM in 2014, an AI-powered app and a 24/7 virtual travel assistant. 

FCTG first invested in SAM in 2017, followed by a complete acquisition in 2019.

Mr Lopez will lead a dedicated team of technical experts to roll out the shared corporate vision for AI within the organisation.

The specialised team will implement AI best practices and provide research, support and training to improve efficiency and drive value to new and existing clients.

In addition, FCTG will leverage AI to enhance productivity and improve workflow optimisation, allowing teams to focus on priority initiatives and more creative-driven projects.
