Can you feel the travel frenzy? It's 'clicking' closer

Click Frenzy is the self proclaimed 'virtual door-busting, 24 hour stampede across cyberspace' aka the mother of online discount shopping and it's currently counting down to its inaugural travel frenzy.

Click Frenzy is the self proclaimed ‘virtual door-busting, 24 hour stampede across cyberspace’ aka the mother of online discount shopping and it’s currently counting down to its inaugural travel frenzy.

A ‘stampede’ of around a million Australians are expected to open their browsers this evening onto the discount site to secure travel savings of up to 70 percent across 100 various travel brands.

Big names like G Adventures, AccorHotels, Scenic, Peregrine and more have signed up to take part in the ‘ 24 hour stampede across cyberspace’. Along with a few online booking sites such as Booking.com, Webjet.com.au and Hotels.com.

Even STA Travel is listed on the Click Frenzy website as one of tonight’s participating retailers along with airlines like Tigerair and Hawaiian Airlines.

Scheduled to start at around 7.00pm tonight, some 500 different deals across flights, hotels, cruises, tours, insurance and other travel-related products will be on offer.

Travellers will have up to 24 hours to secure a deal before the online shopping mega-sale closes.

Click Frenzy Co-Founder, Grant Arnott, said the decision to open its website up to travel discounts came after seeing demand for the travel category.

He said while he knew the Travel Frenzy would “be big”, so far interest in the 24-hour sales is “beyond” expectation.

What does a 24-hour, 70 percent sale on travel mean for Agents?

Another online battle? A loss in sales?

Not necessarily.

First, people logging onto Click Frenzy Travel are travellers who value lower price over security and service. So are Agents really missing out when these people don’t book with them?

Secondly, those who do log on for a quick look and end up booking a cheap stay, could potentially turn to an Agent to add to their purchase with flights, insurance and tours.

Finally, some travellers may simply use the site as a bit of research. Studies have already proven that there’s an increasing number of travellers doing their travel research online before turning to a travel professional.

How do you think Click Frenzy Travel will affect the industry?
