Silversea’s former top boss to become first female CEO of Kempinski Hotels

Barbara Muckermann has been appointed the first female CEO of Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group, Kempinski Hotels.

Barbara Muckermann has been appointed the first female CEO of Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group, Kempinski Hotels.

Previously responsible for leading the world’s largest ultra-luxury and expedition cruise line, Silversea Cruises, Muckermann joins as the hotel group prepares for “impressive growth in new regions worldwide”.

The global luxury hospitality brand has 82 hotels in 36 countries with another 34 hotels and residences opening in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa in coming years.

Muckermann says she could not be more thrilled to be joining the hotel group at such a pivotal time.

Kempinski Hotels Chairman of the Board of Directors, René Nijhof says Muckermann has always been at the forefront of luxury, and her proven ability made her the ideal choice.

During her more than 25 years of hospitality experience, Muckermann has worked for leading global brands in luxury and travel including Loro Piana, MSC Cruises and NCL.
