Silversea’s Silver Nova, the first in its groundbreaking Nova-class, has arrived in Australia for its debut visit, bringing with it the innovative S.A.L.T. (Sea and Land Taste) culinary program in a bid to redefine luxury cruising.
Following her inaugural visit to Darwin, Silver Nova is currently embarking on an itinerary along Australia’s East Coast. Stops include Port Douglas, Cairns, Shute Harbour, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Adelaide, where the ship will dock by late November.
From Adelaide, the ship will continue to Sydney, where it will visit iconic destinations like Kangaroo Island, Phillip Island, and Eden. After its first Sydney call, Silver Nova will journey to Tasmania and then on to New Zealand.
Positioning itself by “Optimising a new vision of luxury”, Silver Nova combines groundbreaking technology and thoughtful design to meet the needs of today’s discerning travellers. Silversea says it sets the stage for a more sustainable, immersive, and luxurious future in cruising, redefining the guest experience at sea.
The ship’s asymmetrical layout creates expansive, open views, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces. Guests can enjoy unobstructed sightlines, a spacious pool deck, and an enhanced connection to the ocean from every corner of the ship. Nova-class also features Butler service for every Suite.
With a capacity of 728 passengers, Silver Nova is the largest ship in Silversea’s fleet, alongside its sister ship, Silver Ray, which is scheduled to join the fleet in 2025.
The ship also sets a new standard for sustainability with hybrid power technology, including LNG, fuel cells, and batteries, significantly reducing emissions. It achieves zero emissions while in port, a first for ultra-luxury cruises. At the same time, Its hydrodynamic hull design further enhances fuel efficiency, minimising environmental impact while maintaining exceptional performance and luxury.
S.A.L.T. Culinary Program: A taste of local culture
Silver Nova’s S.A.L.T. culinary program is a standout feature, offering guests a deeper connection to destinations through local flavours—the program’s S.A.L.T. Kitchen and S.A.L.T. Lab immerse travellers in regional cuisines, ingredients, and traditions.
During her maiden call in Darwin, guests aboard Silver Nova experienced a culinary highlight with Darwin Laksa, a local favourite celebrated annually at the Darwin International Laksa Festival. Onboard, the S.A.L.T. Lab hosted classes like “Bold and Bright: Island Cuisines from the South Pacific,” offering hands-on insights into regional cuisine.
Bert Hernandez, President of Silversea, said, “We’re delighted to host guests aboard Silver Nova in Australian waters for the first time. Her arrival marks a milestone moment for experiential luxury travel in this region. Our S.A.L.T. culinary program enables our guests to experience each destination’s rich culture through its authentic flavours, while Silver Nova’s pioneering asymmetrical design connects travellers with the destination at every turn.”
