Some airlines are tight on their lounge clothing regulations, others are a little cautious of what people wear in business and first class.

But this airline seems to have missed the memo on casual wear in economy.

JetBlue, the carrier that was cool enough to give its passengers free flights on TWO occasions, is making headlines after forcing a passenger to change her outfit because her shorts were deemed to be too short.

2. The Residence flies to Melbourne while the Etihad Dream(liner) touches down in Perth

Melburnians will have access to butlers and private suites while families from Western Australian live the ‘Dream’ with inflight nannies.

And it’s all thanks to Etihad’s upgraded services to Melbourne and Perth.

Touching down this evening, the Abu Dhabi-based carrier’s A380 will operate one of the double daily flights to Melbourne; and on the other side of the country, the Boeing 787-9 will replace A330s on flights to Perth.

3. Aussies get visa-free entry to Brazil

Brazil is giving Agents and travellers one less thing to worry about when booking a holiday to the before, during and after the 2016 Rio Olympics and Paralympics.

Commencing yesterday, the country has decided to waive visas for tourists from Australia, Canada, America and Japan.

4. BIG NEWS around the corner from Etihad Airways

Did you catch Etihad’s news today? Not one, but two new aircraft deployed to two Australian cities.

It’s a big day and on top of that the carrier recently launched its first virtual reality film, which stars Hollywood celebrity, Nicole Kidman.

5. Pan Pacific treats guests to good food, strong drinks & prizes

Hotel group, Pan Pacific, took time out to connect directly with its guests last month during its annual Customer Connections Week.

The events held around Australia, recognise the continuous support of their customers while also putting the company’s growth on the agenda.

Local and international Pan Pacific Hotels Group representatives met with over 470 clients at a series of events held over five days in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Perth as well as over 70 face to face client appointments.

6. New lead on EgyptAir black box

Egypt’s aviation leaders say French authorities have picked up a signal for deep under the Mediterranean Sea, which is believed to belong to the black boxes of EgyptAir’s downed plane.

The Airbus A320 went crash into the ocean last month while flying between Paris to Cairo, killing all 66 passengers and crew on board.

Egypt’s Civil Aviation Ministry said in a statement that a signal has been detected in the search area and it is assumed to belong to the data recorders.

 

7. TFE Hotels innovates at TEDxSydney

TFE Hotels hosted an ‘innovation lab’ at TEDxSydney last week, where the group obtained an array of key insights and issues of the modern day traveller.

The event, which informed attendees on the vision for the Hotel of 2020: Goodbye to Generic, revealed that the future traveller is looking for authentic and personalised experiences.

Australia’s sophisticated traveller wants to move away from generic travel experiences, and for everything from their booking confirmation and itinerary, to their room and hotel amenities to be tailored to their specific tastes.

8. Insider Journeys, WAS & Air Tickets move office

Insider Journeys, World Aviation Systems (WAS), Global Aviation Services and Air Tickets have moved their Sydney corporate head offices to Level 9, 338 Pitt Street, Sydney NSW 2000.

All phone numbers and email remain the same in the seamless move, effective immediately.

The new premises are located within 338 Pitt Street on the corner of Pitt and Liverpool Streets in the Sydney CBD.

 

9. Agents get to Know India Better

Travel Agents, wholesalers, operators and media were invited to get to Know India Better at last week’s India Tourism Sydney and Australia India Travel & Tourism Council’s seminars.

Held in Sydney, the evening saw over 100 guests treated to a complete India-themed evening featuring traditional food, entertainment and of course, information.

According to Council General of India – Sydney, B. Vanlalvawna, the tourism sector in India plays an important role in the economy generating over $120b annually, contributing to more than 6 percent of gross domestic product (GDP).

Figures show that Australia is a key market for India’s tourism industry with over three percent of foreign arrivals coming from Australia.

 

10. KarryOn joins the Rainbow Challenge

KarryOn has joined the Rainbow Challenge to help a fellow travel industry peer from Virgin Australia find a cure for her sick niece.

Seven-year-old, Chloe Saxby, was diagnosed with a rare terminal brain disease called Vanishing White Matter Disease when she was three.

Her Aunt, Nicole Laurie, from Virgin Australia is asking industry friends to help fund a potential cure. Click here for more information.
