1. OMG, air travel with Lufthansa is going to be rough today

Lufthansa is desperately attempting to block a planned pilots’ strike today, which is apparently going to impact some 100,000 travellers.

The airline put forward its eleventh hour legal challenge earlier today after losing its last appeal to a Frankfurt labour court, BBC News reported.

If the latest appeal is rejected, pilots’ union, Vereinigung Cockpit (VC), has organised for employees to walk off the job for 24 hours starting 0.01hrs (local time).

2. Sydney kind of sucks, according to a new study

Is the iconic Harbour not beautiful enough? Are the waterfront bars not sociable enough? Is Luna Park not crazy and loud enough? And are the Botanical Gardens not picturesque enough?

Apparently not, according to a new study which found Sydney to be one of the least dynamic and funnest cities around the world.

Today, I read my holiday horoscope and it said: “I wish I could pole dance with a hipster at a destination wedding.”

Uhhh hell yeah I do – except I might need a few drinks beforehand and maybe we can replace the hipster with a sexy military man and I’m going to need someone (extremely strong) to hold me up on the pole.

Meanwhile, my manager and KarryOn’s Editorial Content Director, Julia, should be ‘popping out of a cake at a health retreat with a party animal’ and our Campaign Manager, Stephanie, should plan to ‘salsa dance in Las Vegas with her most random mate’.

5. It’s official. Dragonair is out & Cathay Dragon is in

A new era of travel from Hong Kong kicked off this week, when local carrier Dragonair officially converted over to Cathay Dragon.

The complete rebrand comes less than nine months after it was first announced as a means of better aligning the regional and international airline with its sister company and well recognised, Cathay Pacific.

Aside from a name change, Cathay Dragon received a new logo – which includes the familiar Cathay ‘brushwing’ and according to the airline – as well as new aircraft livery featuring the words ‘Cathay Dragon’ across the body of the aircraft, the new logo on the tail plus the familiar Dragonair dragon close to cockpit.

6. Pan Pacific Perth collects 3 new awards

Pan Pacific Perth continues to dazzle in Western Australia’s hospitality scene, bu claiming three top awards at two major award ceremonies within two weeks.

The hotel took home the title of WA’s Best Conference and Functions Awards (joint winner award) while the hotel’s Executive Pastry Chef, Laurent Xavier, was named WA’s Best Cookery

Services Employee at the 2016 AHA-AON Hospitality Awards for Excellence held on 8 November at the State Buildings. The hotel’s restaurant, Monterey’s later won the Best Buffet Award at Catering Institute of Australia (WA)’s 2016 Kleenheat Gold Plate Awards held on 14 November at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Couples need to send their best couple moment pictures and describe their interesting couple story to: info@thailand.net.au, and tell the tourist bureau why Thailand is your dream wedding destination. 

One couple will then be selected to win a wedding package including two roundtrip economy ticket (Bangkok Airways) from Australia to Thailand; two roundtrip domestic economy tickets to the wedding destination; one deluxe room for five nights in Bangkok and Samui; transportation; meals; spa treatment; rental of Thai costume and wedding dress; VDO presentation and photography on the wedding ceremony; professional wedding organiser; and hairstylist and make up artist on the wedding day.

Entries need to be in before December this year with travel for 8-13 February 2017 (wedding ceremony is on 10 February 2017).
